Hi, friends!
As a lover of all things porg, I was delighted when shoe company Po-Zu announced their new porg sneakers collection. Po-Zu makes ethical and sustainable shoes and they’ve become known for their unique Star Wars designs. They offer everything from a replica of Rey’s boots to orange BB-8-inspired sneakers. Po-Zu’s Porg Sneakers come in 2 different styles—low-tops and hi-tops. I wanted to get the maximum amount of porgs on my feet so I ordered the hi-top style.
This was my first time buying from Po-Zu and since the company is based in the UK, I was a little worried about what would happen if the shoes didn’t fit. I tend to wear a true size 9 in shoes, but if a style runs big, I can squeeze into an 8 1/2. Po-Zu says that this style runs small but I took a chance and ordered my usual size, which in this case was an EU-40. When my order arrived and I opened the box, I was pleasantly surprised by how streamlined the style looked! Sometimes hi-top sneakers can look bulky and therefore make my feet look Wookiee-sized. Fortunately, the shoes fit perfectly and are super flattering on my feet.
Po-Zu has some devout followers and after wearing these porg sneakers for a day, I can see why. The shoes were lightweight, cushy, and felt great after several hours of running errands around town. It’s always nice when you don’t have to break in a shoe (or wear bandaids) for it to feel comfortable! Obviously, I LOVE the porg pattern, and I like that from a distance, it’s a subtle Star Wars style. Lately, the weather in Los Angeles has been beautiful and sunny like Naboo, so I paired these sneakers with a denim skirt and lace trim t-shirt. I think these porg sneakers are going to be a summertime staple in my wardrobe—I could see wearing them cropped pants, a sundress, and maybe even floral print shorts.
So are the sneakers worth the slightly pricey price tag? (In US dollars the shoes cost about $114.) My feet and I think so! Converse sneakers can run anywhere between $55-$135 depending on the style. Nike’s, on average, cost $100 or more. Po-Zu’s porg sneakers have a memory-foam foot mattress so that alone, in my mind, makes them a solid purchase. Po-Zu shoes are also ethically made, crafted using natural materials (like organic cotton), and 10% of their net profit goes to charity. Plus, I like to them of them as a collector’s item! So if wearing tiny porgs on your feet makes you happy, I highly recommend picking up a pair!
May the porgs be with you!
